Attacking innocent people with arms, to shed blood, and to massacre is clearly state terrorism. Even despots, bandits and pirates have a certain sense of sensitivity. There is no longer any way for the illegal actions of Israel to be covered or ignored. This last incident once again proves that this is about the massacre of a city and its entire people in order to completely exterminate them. Israel cannot wash the blood off their hands. From now on whoever shuts their eyes to the bloody attacks of Israel, whoever ignores them, should know they are accomplices to these murders. The time has come for the International community to say: STOP!” (Recep Tayyip Erdogan Turkish Prime Minister)

Viva Palestina Malaysia is equally shocked and outraged at the blatant act of murderous aggression by the State of Israel. That it happened in international waters against unarmed defenceless civilians carrying desperately needed aid to the people of Gaza is all the more criminal. Horrific accounts by the survivors of the flotilla leave no doubt that Israeli forces acted in total disregard for human lives and its trail left nine dead and countless others injured.

This incident has again revealed Israel's explicit role in the continuous blockade of Gaza and its 1.5 million citizens which deserves utmost condemnation. Israel restricts the entry of food, fuel, building and educational materials. The seriously ill often die while waiting for permission to travel outside Gaza for medical treatment. An Amnesty International report states that 4 out of 5 Gazans are dependent on humanitarian aid with mass unemployment and extreme poverty.

Standing in solidarity with civil societies all over the world in marking Saturday, 5th June 2010 as Global ‘Break-The-Siege’ Day, Viva Palestina Malaysia (VPM) will be holding a walkabout aimed at creating greater awareness among the Malaysian public regarding the Palestinian issue and the siege in Gaza.
